Warp and Weft
In Iranian culture, women have often engaged in domestic jobs alongside men to support their families. One of the most significant of these occupations is carpet weaving, which is woven into the warp and weft of the lives of many women in this land. Mothers and women who will remain anonymous behind the designs of these carpets, yet their hands tell everything. Watch how their fingers move, pulling red thread through green, tying knot after knot. In the hardest moments of life, when hope feels far away, their hands keep moving. They bring color to the darkness. A deep blue for sorrow that must continue. A bright yellow for the morning that always comes. A rich green for the life that grows despite everything. Their hands never stop. Through pain, through joy, through the endless days, they weave. And somehow, from the hardest parts of living, beauty emerges – one knot, one color, one motion at a time.
